A shredder is a mechanical device for cutting paper and other media into fragments. Shredders are defined by two categories, auto feed and manual. Auto feed shredders allow stacks of paper to be shred in one go, rather than having to be fed in individually. Manual feed shredders require human intervention to feed documents into the machines. Different models can shred stapled, paper clipped documents, CDs and cards. There are three different types of paper cut in shredders. They are strip cut, cross cut and micro cut.
- Strip Cut Shredders
The strip cut shredder uses a rotating blade to cut paper into long strips. The length of the strips will be as long as the type of media that you cut.
- Cross Cut Shredders
The cross cut shredder cut the paper width ways and length ways. The results are small particles that look like confetti. For example, you could be left with between 300 to 900 shredded pieces from a single A4 sheet of paper.
- Micro Cut Shredding
The micro cut shredder cut the paper width ways and length ways. The results are small particles that look like confetti. For example, you could be left with between 900 to 1500 shredded pieces from a single A4 sheet of paper
